I have more than 15 years of experience as a researcher in the field of visual signal processing, with my main activities focused on developing low-complexity and power-efficient video coding/transcoding solutions. I am the author of more than 100 scientific papers which received more than 1,400 citations, one book and two filed patent applications. I am also a lead researcher with the Video Technology Research Group (ViTech) at UFPel and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow Level 2 (PQ-2). I am a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE SPS and IEEE CASS societies, and a member of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and the Brazilian Microelectronics Society (SBMicro). Currently, I am also the vice-chair of the Rio Grande do Sul Chapter (South Brazil Section) of the IEEE CASS.I received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2015), the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (2010) and the B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil.
