My extensive experience in Family Business is on a professional and personal basis. As a Chartered Accountant, I provide advice to many large family businesses and high net wealth individuals. Personally, our family has been involved in businesses for many generations, directly and indirectly. Our current family business was established in 1993 and has succeeded through all the growing pains to be a leader in its field. Advising clients' businesses in addition to being involved in a family business provides me with a unique perspective to understand the challenges and opportunities found in family businesses. My passion is Family Business and Entrepreneurship. Harnessing the values and innovation of entrepreneurial founders and creating future opportunities makes for a sustainable intergenerational business. Just as important is the nurturing and training of the next generation so that the spirit of entrepreneurship succeeds more than one generation and enabling the next generation to discover their business and personal potential. As a business professional, I know that creating value in business through innovation can be just as important in the next generation as it was for the founding entrepreneurs. Supporting next generation family members and family office are my focus interests. Not surprisingly, these often go hand in hand. This is evident in our next generation academy at EY and our family office forums. These provide unique opportunities for peers to meet and acquire skills equipping them for their future endeavors. My specialty field is family governance and succession. Helping families to plan for tomorrow to ensure the business and family not only survive succession but thrive is my commitment. Capturing new energy driven by a common passion builds resilience in the business and family. EY's many programs such as Entrepreneur of the Year and NextGen Academy celebrate the uniqueness and importance of entrepreneurs and family businesses.
