Greear Arthur Webb is a warrior for justice who cares deeply about strengthening America's communities and uplifting those whom America has historically overlooked. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Greear is an alumnus of UNC-Chapel Hill, where he double-majored in Political Science and African, African American, and Diaspora (AAAD) Studies. Greear began pursuing his Juris Doctor at Emory University School of Law in August 2023. Greear was an active leader of his peers at UNC-CH. For his efforts to better UNC-CH and the greater Chapel Hill/Durham community, Greear was recognized as a 2022 Chancellor's Award Recipient—the University’s highest student honor.Greear is not only a committed learner but a fierce advocate for others, striving for progress in gun violence prevention and police accountability legislation. Spurred to political action after the Parkland school shooting in 2018 and the horrific public murder of George Floyd in May 2020, respectively, Greear was selected as a 2020 Youth Voter Ambassador by Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and was appointed the youngest-ever (to-date) member of the Raleigh Police Advisory Board in 2020. In 2021, Greear was honored as the inaugural and, to-date, only recipient of the Triangle MLK Committee's John Lewis Student Activist award, and is the youngest to-date inductee of the Wake County Public School System Hall of Fame. In summer 2022, Greear completed a fellowship at CFK Africa in Kenya, working to grow his understanding of international community-centered advocacy as he worked with Kenyan youth to develop a youth-centered leadership curriculum. While in Kenya, Greear witnessed how the struggle for justice is a global effort, how people’s diversity strengthens communities, and the importance of reflective representation. While in college, Greear served as the youngest guest contributor to PBS NC's “Black Issues Forum” television show, and in recognition of his continued efforts to uplift NC's Black community, Greear received the high honor of being invited to the White House by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in March 2023. In summer 2023, Greear completed a legal internship in Atlanta, Georgia where he worked as the inaugural legal intern at Bayuk Pratt, LLC—a burgeoning personal injury law firm pursuing accountability for its clients. Greear believes, like philosopher Cornel West, that “justice is what love looks like in public,” and Greear works in realization of this mantra every day.

Legislative Intern, State Board Of EducationNorth Carolina Department Of Public Instruction Jan 2019 - Aug 2019Raleigh, Nc, UsAs the youngest NC SBE intern to date, I contributed to raising awareness around and reestablishing the Board's two high school student advisors. I was also tasked with the responsibility of crafting the weekly NC K-12 Education Legislative Update and adding a current student’s perspective to any education issues that arose during my time of internship. The legislative update contained current events related to K-12 Public Education as well as important information pertaining to education happenings in the NC General Assembly. The weekly legislative update is sent to more than 100,000 readers across the state. It was crucial to speak up and provide a current student’s perspective on education issues because the State Board truly valued hearing what learning was like for today’s students—in real time. I was able to listen, offer advice, and help plan when it came to specific education ideas within the NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI).I also spent time attending and note-taking during State Board meetings and was able to grow my pre-professional network by attending events related to both the DPI and, specifically, the NC State Board of Education (SBE). -
