I made the switch and launched a successful career as a consultant obtaining a Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designation, followed by a Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation shortly thereafter.In an industry that is highly individualistic, I recognized the benefit of aligning myself with a team of experienced, like-minded professionals who could work together to improve the service offered to all clients. After wanting to represent the client instead of the insurer, I moved to the consulting side of my business in 1999. I was a lead consultant for a start up financial consulting firm in Southern Ontario, that was once ranked in Profit magazine's fastest growing companies in Canada. Specializing in Employee Benefits and group retirement programs with a strong niche and background in plan design and financial funding options for small and midsize organizations, helping clients save thousands of dollars each year in premiums paid to their insurance carrier.

Responsible for sales and service of existing Great West life employee benefit clients. Managing in excess of $5 million of annual employee benefit premium, I worked with numerous advisors and consultants in cost containment, funding strategies, sales and renewal presentations and running employee meetings.
