I am an altruistic attorney with an interest in big data and natural language processing. One of the strange things about litigating on behalf of individual workers, tenants, immigrants, and so on is that every client's problems are personal, but the basis for liability is structural: to help get justice for one person, you usually have to prove that the defendant was systematically careless, which involves poring through thousands of records. If you're smart, you don't look through all of those records yourself; instead, you train a computer to do it for you.Over the last few years, I've become concerned about just how easy it is to train computers to do things for us. I worry about the long-term safety of artificial intelligence, which is why I'm advocating for an AI safety bill at the Center for AI Policy. I am looking to build my network in this space -- if you do work at the intersection of AI safety and federal policy, please send me a message! I'd love to learn more about what you do.Skills: Administrative law, regulatory law, HIPAA, HMIS, MySQL, jQuery, Java, Python, Pandas, R, natural language processing
