Obtaining a degree in psychology has been an important goal of mine since I was in middle school. From a young age, I was able to see people struggle with mental health and not receive the help they need. These incidents fueled my desire to assist people suffering from mental illnesses so that they can live their best lives. As I got older, I realized how relevant mental health is to everyone's life. I have not narrowed down exactly what specialty I want to pursue yet but I am hoping that through internships I will be able to scope out what I am most passionate about. Currently, I work as a waitress at a family-owned pizza restaurant. At work, I assist with waiting tables, running food, preparing food, and keeping the restaurant clean. This job has helped me broaden my skills in problem solving, fast pace working, and communication. Throughout my time in high school, I also had jobs working in retail and as a nanny. Being a nanny gave me the opportunity to gain experience with children and adapt to unpredictable situations. Outside of work and school, I spend some of my free time volunteering for nonprofits. Throughout high school, I volunteered for non profits, such as the Nashville Food Project, that sent supplies and food to families in need. I helped box up the supplies and food to get them ready to be shipped. Volunteering is important to me because it allows me to help people in need, even if it's in a little way. There are so many people in the world who need help, and I value the ability to do anything to help. Although my workplace experience is still limited, my enthusiasm for learning new skills is boundless. Specifically, I would love to work at a job where I can pursue my passions and challenge myself.
