As the Chief Land Surveyor for the Forest Service, headquartered in Washington, DC,provides national leadership and program planning and direction, as well professional and technical assistance to the forest and regional level land surveying programs on National Forest System lands in the 44 states that have National Forest System lands. Works closely with the USDA Office of the General Counsel and the various U.S. Attorney's Offices supporting active litigation affecting NFS lands and title. Works with Congressional delegations, committees and subcommittees and Forest Service legislative affairs staff as requested to assist in the preparation of draft legislation and draft legislative maps. Serves as the national subject matter expert on land surveying and boundary descriptions.

As the Regional Land Surveyor for the Eastern Region of the Forest Service, headquartered in Milwaukee, WI ,provided regional leadership and program planning, budgeting, and direction, as well professional and technical assistance to the forest level land surveying programs on National Forest System lands in the states in the Eastern Region (Maine to Minnesota to Missouri to Maryland to Maine, inclusive.)

As Forest Land Surveyor executed state and federal land and cadastral survey authority surveys and property boundary surveys to delineate legal boundaries between public lands managed as part of the National Forest System and lands in other ownership. Conducted geodetic high precision terrestial and space based system (GPS) to support agency mapping programs and to assist the National Geodetic Survey in the collection of GPS positional data to support the National High Accuracy Reference Network (HARN).
