I functioned as a student therapist on a dual diagnosis unit at Rock Springs Hospital. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to, providing intakes for up to five incoming patients daily, partial creation of personalized treatment plans, leading two group therapy sessions daily documenting and filing notes for those groups, organizing and running family sessions, crisis planning and intervention, discharge documentation, scheduling and coordinating aftercare plans for patients. Other responsibilities of the position included advocating for the patient's well-being, individualizing care for patients, and aiding clients in contacting relevant third parties such as attorneys or employers. I would often work with twelve patients or occasionally more at a time, with the average remaining with us 5-10 days whilst those receiving rehab remained up to a month.

This was almost a two year long internship (I was working before the internship officially started and after it had officially ended) where I developed skills in recruitment, hiring and firing, writing employee handbooks, writing legal documents, completing government documents, and other activities central to HR functions. During my internship, I worked with several businesses of varying structures and sizes, ranging from 5 to 60 employees. I recruited individuals, held interviews, and was authorized to hire on the behalf of our client companies. The time spent at the company helped me build a broad range of competencies, with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

This commonly meant handling dangerous and potentially toxic substances and chemicals.
