Aerocare rehab was bought out by National Seating and Mobility.As a Rehabilitation Technician I work closely with an ATP for repair/modifications and set up of new and used power mobility and complex manual rehab. I contact patients and scheduled patient assessments in home and facilities for repairs and modifications. Assists in the procurement of assistive technology devices and/or services according to established plan. Performs inventory and work orders to ensure successful daily operational activities of the department. Assists in reclaiming unused assistive technology equipment and inventory when necessary. Contact manufacturers and write quotes to be sent to insurance companies for authorization.Rehabilitation technicians maintain therapeutic equipment and ensure that clinical facilities are clean and organized. This can include returning equipment to proper storage areas between uses, removing potentially hazardous materials or debris from patient activity areas, and disposing of soiled materials in accordance with facility procedures and safe handling practices.

As a Rehabilitation Technician I install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, test, calibrate, adjust, overhaul, and repair a wide variety of medical equipment (electronic, electrical, and mechanical). Typical examples of equipment serviced include power mobility devices, O2 concentrators, various manual electric motors, and programmable pendants for hospital beds. Medical equipment repairers determine nature and extent of repairs required by checking equipment for malfunctions, requiring the tracing of wiring, broken or worn parts, leaks, feedback, and interference. They check voltage tolerances, amperage, power supplies, wave shape, frequency resonance, deflection time, decay curve, gain, balance, and signal sensitivity against prescribed tolerances and specifications. I plan and carry out work assignments using blueprints, schematic drawings, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and other specifications. I test equipment after repair and also new equipment to ensure proper functioning; conduct preventive maintenance inspection of equipment; performs acceptance inspections for new equipment; and focal point for a variety of service contract efforts, which involves initiation of procurement action, budget planning, bids, proposals, payment, and work scheduling.As a Rehabilitation Technician I must be knowledgeable of and able to select proper replacement parts, modification kits, and identifies materials, mechanisms, and components from knowledge of diagram symbols, color code descriptions and manufacturers numbers.Responsible for assessing the patients’ home for power equipment which includes taking measurements of entryways/exits both in home and outside the home. Also, measure patients for proper seating for scooter and group 2 power chairs.Responsible for getting quotes from manufacturers for new power mobility devices (PMD). Then procure the work orders and order then deliver new PMD’s.
