CurrentReporting directly to executive leadership, responsible for overseeing the operation of two business units (parts distribution and railcar repair services), managing 8 direct reports and 25 to 30 staff. Provides managerial oversight, procurement and technical support for railcar repair operations in Montreal (Coteau-du-lac) completing over 500 heavy equipment repairs and modifications annually. Actively engages in sales initiatives, interacting daily with customers (railways, repair shops, leasing companies, and other railcar and locomotive operators and owners) understanding and addressing concerns and opportunities as well as offering new solutions and/or product and services proposals. Leads the customer service, procurement, and transportation departments as well as two major warehousing operations for the distribution of railcar, locomotive, track, and safety products.Directs the company’s transportation and logistics strategies including vendor selection, relationship development, rate negotiations, corrections, and tendering of freight and custom brokerage needs, striving to cut direct and indirect costs with streamlined interactions with technological efficiencies.Continually plays a lead role in the implementation and optimization of technology systems, including SAP Business One ERP, railcar repair system RailcarRX and transportation management systems driving internal efficiencies across the corporation.In charge of all inventory management, controls, and material forecasting while remaining focused on aligning with customer demands. Establishes profitability targets and product price points, negotiating and managing the execution of supply agreements with customers.Identifies, negotiates, and integrates new product lines and vendors supply arrangements.Directs all new product development initiatives including engineering design, testing, AAR approval, strategic sourcing, costing, and pricing.
