Co-Founder
Current
Member Board Of Directors
Board member representing Lake Washington, Northshore, Skykomish, and Riverview school districts.
Division Chief Support Services
In my last position with the district, I served as the division chief for support services, coordinating facilities and apparatus for King County Fire District 45. I also coordinated emergency preparedness/management activities for the district. My projects included managing HVAC and other facilities updates for our headquarter station and developing a schedule and budget for managing facility needs. For emergency management, I created a Disaster Support Volunteer program for the district, and worked closely with regional governments on an evacuation plan for the Lower Snoqualmie Valley.
Hazardous Material Safety Training
I teach annual refresher safety training to workers who are involved in the investigation and cleanup of hazardous material sites, as required by OSHA 29CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) and applicable state laws. Depending on the client's needs, I tailor the curriculum to address the unique hazards they face, including physical hazards, as well as the material required by law.
School Board
Elected in 2003, reelected in 2005, 2009, and 2013. Resigned in March of 2015 to accept a position on the board of the Puget Sound Educational Service District (by law, I cannot serve on both boards.) Served as board president four years, and board vice president for four years. School board duties included twice a month business meetings and serving on subcommittees, including the current Emergency Preparedness committee. Other school board duties included meeting with state legislators regarding district needs and educational priorities, responding to questions and complaints by community members and parents, conducting yearly evaluations of the school superintendent, working with the assistant superintendent to develop annual updates to the district's strategic plan, and on occasion, serve in a quasi judicial role to hear appeals to student discipline.
Environmental Scientist
Designed and implemented field investigation activities at State and Federally listed hazardous material sites. Coordinated and implemented remedial activities at hazardous material sites. Undertook increasing responsibility for project management during my tenure with PTI/Exponent, which included bidding and running small projects to serving as assistant project manager for an expedited RI/FS for a smelter site in the midwest (this later project required the completion of the typical multi-year RI/FS in only six months, so as to meet therequirements set by a bankruptcy court). In addition to a wide range of technical projects, I served as the corporate health and safety manager for PTI, reviewing all field safety plans and presenting Supervisor and Annual Refresher Training as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.
Environmental Scientist
Field investigation at known and suspected hazardous material sites. Screened properties for inclusion on state and federal hazardous site lists, emergency response to hazardous material spills, prepared community relations plans (to solicit community input in remedial activities) for Superfund sites. Researched past ownership and use of conatminated properties. Monitored remedial investigation and cleanup activities for USEPA.
