Guided Sen. Udall's efforts in New Mexico related to public lands, energy, environment, health/pandemic, and more. Assisted with office's successful defense of the BLM methane rule and fight to preserve national monuments.Organized seven rural resource fairs, five economic development events and two broadband summits across the state. Instituted cross-office teams on job growth, healthcare, climate change, and Native American issues. Responsible for Sen. Udall's schedule, hundreds of yearly events, field activity, constituent casework, five state offices, and 20 staff.

Responsible for the Royalty Management Division and the Oil, Gas and Mineral Division which together brought in record revenue of over $2 billion during my tenure at the State Land Office. Managed 35 staff members. • Appointed to the NM Oil Conservation Commission to hear and vote on the industry-proposed oil drilling/pit rule. This was a seven-month effort with 5000+ pages of transcripts. Preserved groundwater protections. • Successfully worked in 2012 to pass New Mexico legislation to overhaul geothermal energy leasing.• Implemented lesser prairie chicken and dunes sagebrush lizard CCAA agreement with BLM.

Guided Senator Bingaman’s New Mexico outreach efforts including hundreds of yearly health, energy and economic development events and meetings. I coordinated the offices’ efforts related to energy, public lands, wilderness, water projects and, in particular, renewable energy. Worked regularly with federal, state and local government including DOD installations, DOE labs, DOI, USDA, Forest Service, Postal Service, DHS, and others. I was responsible for a staff of 20 in five offices across the state.

I coordinated the senator's Southwest New Mexico Border Security Task Force, which was comprised of area residents and all levels of U.S. and Mexican law enforcement to ensure the safety of New Mexico’s border residents. I was also launched the New Mexico-Chihuahua border law enforcement, anti-violence working group which was responsible for the arrest of armed men from Mexico that were robbing and assaulting immigrants in the U.S. This group of U.S. and Mexican federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies was also the impetus for legislation to halt the illegal southbound firearms and cash flow that help fuel Mexico’s drug war.

I ultimately had four simultaneous roles at NMSU:• Outreach Coordinator. Ran the center's annual speakers' series and dozens of other events. • Program development. Activities included initiating the successful NMSU-Sierra Tarahumara Project in Chihuahua’s Copper Canyon (2002-2005) and managing the center’s major Title VI federal grant application, which was awarded in June 2003.• Host, Visión, a weekly border affairs radio program on KRWG, 90.7 FM, NMSU. 2002-2005.• Editor, Frontera NorteSur, online U.S.-Mexico border news. 2000-2005. Increased readership from 30 people per day to 3,000; created a free, e-mail subscription service; expanded coverage from one city to eight; and reduced staff and expenses. Extensive travel to Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua and Tamaulipas to develop stories, work with colleagues and present at conferences.
