Prior to becoming an engineer, I spent two years as an industrial electrician. This provided me with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in motor control, relay logic and troubleshooting. After completing my college education, I started my career as a controls engineer working on various projects. After I began working for an engineering firm completing projects in several different industries, I moved into a management position. I lead a team of controls engineers that grew to eleven members.During this time, I was introduced to the material handling industry. I began by developing a control system to retrofit existing AS/RS installations. With a desire to dedicate my engineering to the material handling industry, I accepted a position that provided an opportunity to develop control systems for new AS/RS installations, as well as pallet conveyor systems. What started as a project engineering position developed into a research and development role.For me, the next 20 years were spent improving my skills, knowledge, and experience as a project engineer and then as a research and development engineer in the material handling industry. In these roles, I developed control systems for a variety of material handling products, including AS/RS, pallet conveyor, CDLR conveyor, BDLR conveyor, accumulation conveyor, MDR conveyor, merges, induction gap optimizers and several types of sorters.For the last three years, I have been working with system integrator customers. This has allowed me to use my troubleshooting skills and extensive controls experience in the material handling industry to help integrator customers to be successful.
