In this role, I oversee the creation and aggregation of videos for KansasCity.com. I work with my team to generate videos, animations and infographics to illustrate stories that can’t be told with live photography/video. We aggregate videos to drive traffic to the website. I am also the analytics point person, using Adobe Analytics and Chartbeat to help.

A dual role where I managed the visual presentation in digital and print for The Star and developed new products and technologies for use by the newsroom. I was a key member of the team that developed a new CMS for all the McClatchy properties. I was part of the small group that started the company’s push into phone and tablet apps — helping to create some.

I served as publisher and editor to three community newspapers just south of the Kansas City metro area. During my time there, I installed a new CMS for print operations, consolidated production to a single location to increase efficiencies. I oversaw award-winning news coverage at all 3 newspapers. A dual, hands-on role creating data visualizations and designing A1 and projects for one of the largest newspapers in the United States. I helped manage the infographics/design departments, working with other artists and designers to improve their work and coordinate special projects.
