I thought I'd better do an update as things have significantly changed for the better (Thank you JDA). Following on from being made redundant by JDA, we started a family business selling Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid and accessories. Two years on we have two successful businesses - UCIG LTD which is the retail arm of our organisation and operates two successful retail shops in the midlands. We manufacture a quality range of E-Liquids that we sell not only to our own shops but also to a large number of other retailers. We are at the forefront when it comes to the TPD and already exceed the regulatory requirements coming in in 2016. All our fluid is made in 'Clean' environments from pharma grade ingredients in our Nottingham production facility, where I seem to spend most of my time these days.I really do appreciate the experience I obtained at JDA and have used it to write our own EPOS, Order Processing, Warehouse Management and Manufacturing Control systems - yes all in Clarion!!!(OK version 9 !!!) And OMG, when it comes to POS, boy didn't we do it the hard way .For my ex colleagues, an example, printing receipts is so simple even to usb printers - simply install your printer as a windows printer, build a text file containing your receipt and print it.Let windows handle the problems! LOL.

I provided support accross the emea region for the JDA Store Systems products WinDSS and JDAPOS. This involved 1st through 3rd level support. From taking an original enquiry through to coding fixes in Clarion, SQL and C#. I was also involved with many customisation projects requiring virgin code. At one point I had a team of three but as the product dwindled the team was reduced eventually to just myself. The product has been around since the mid 90's - not a bad product life!I was also involved in delivering training both to customers and our COE in India and one of my roles was to provide technical support to our Store Systems team in India. I am .considered a Clarion Guru by other programmers globally, often providing advice and assistance. After all, Clarion is my main area of expertise.I enjoyed my stay at JDA and can honestly say I have never been bored. Each day over the 12 years has been different - lucky or what!

Prior to JDA, I was a contract programmer having worked on numerous projects from POS systems, database integrations, the UK 'Connexions' project. Much of this was Clarion (been doing it over 20 years!!!) but I have used numerous languages as yo can see from my skillset. I actually started out in programming as a teenager using assembler (a hobby back then). My first serious commercial work was done back in the 80's using COBOL.
