My work is aimed at achieving a better understanding of the development of the Appalachian - Caledonian- Variscan Orogen in North America and Europe, and the formation of the mineral deposits contained in it. With graduate students and geological survey collaborators, I carry out detailed projects involving mapping , petrology, geochemistry and geochronology to better understand the rocks and sequence of events in a project area. Most recent projects have been carried out in Newfoundland and Labrador (regional geology, volcanic stratigraphy, gold mineralization; Graham et al. 2021 Journal of Petrology, Fogo Island intrusion processes, Honsberger et al. 2022, GSA Bulletin, now on- line,, Marathon gold belt geology, central Newfoundland), In Maine; (stratigraphy and structure; Pollock et al. 2022 CJES), and Portugal (regional geology - metamorphism and tectonics).New work...
