About Greg E.
Demonstrated success in applied research and technology development. Inventor of collision cell ICPMS and dynamic RF trapping. Decades long track record in leading small technical teams in research and/or operations related to national and homeland security. Strategy development for addressing challenges in the measurement and interpretation of ultratrace levels of nuclear fuel cycle isotopes in the environment. My love of hands on experimental work started with taking 8 shop classes (machining, hydraulics, sheet metal, electronics, etc.) at Benson Polytechnic HS in Portland Oregon; I still use the ball peen hammers I made there!

Laboratory Fellow
I am a physical chemist who worked for more than 28 years at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy multi-program laboratory. Much of my work focused on characterizing isotopes that are signatures of processes associated with the nuclear fuel cycle. I develop and apply mass spectrometry methods to such problems. My work includes development of the first commercially viable collision cell inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers, novel approaches to MALDI, new RF quadrupole ion trap methods ("dynamic RF trapping"), elemental/isotopic analysis with resonant laser ionization and TOF/MS.
Lab Fellow
Scientist
Plasma processing development engineer. Developed reactive ion etch and other plasma based processes for in-house semiconductor fabrication methods.
