It is my job to ensure safe and proper operation of power plant boilers, diesel generators, air compressors, condensers, air dryers, fans, pumps, water filtration systems, and all other related boiler plant equipment. As the assistant shift engineer my position can be a vary versatile one. My daily task can be such things as doing routine rounds and inspections, operating the panel, completion of lock out tag out on equipment, simple and complex maintenance, troubleshooting, creating SOP's (standard operating procedures) and even upkeep of plant with cleaning, painting or any means possible to keep a well oiled plant is respectable order.

The role of a process technician at the refinery it was my job to be a part of a big team to keep sufficient flow of products flowing in a safe an efficient manner for both products and the safety of others. Some of the responsibilities included regular unit rounds to ensure good operation of equipment and searching for decencies for repair, completion of permits for emergency and preventative maintenance while also isolating and completion of de-energizing systems. Also it was a daily task learning flows and bigger systems within the refinery.

This position was located in a isolated area where I was doing a Fly-In, Fly-out rotation. I was a sub contractor at an iron ore mine, where there work environment was a challenging but rewarding one. Every day at work was a different one, as a team we completed the commissioning, maintenance, operating, house keeping and over all upkeep of the boiler room and associated equipment for the Iron Ore mine. Some of my duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:- Routine checks on equipment - Water treatment for the boilers- Housecleaning and painting -Using DCS- Lock Out Tag Out procedures - Reacting to system disruptions - Preventive Maintenance

As a process technician my duties included static and dynamic test on process equipment on site. Statics would conduct of walk downs where all equipment would be detected of imperfections and this would be red lined and flagged for construction. Also I would do dynamic runs where the equipment would have its initial run up before put into production, many test and calculations would be conducted.
