I fulfilled temporary contracts through temp agencies, planning and ensuring on time delivery of goods across a range of contracts. Utilising sub-contract fleet I ensured they completed their tasks in a timely and profitable way.

My duties included ensuring the completion of B.O.C’s national trunking schedule, facilitating ad hoc deliveries, allocating drivers’ work, collecting delivery timings and pallet info, drivers’ hours and liaising with B.O.C and supplier sites. As the products are very hazardous driver training and adherence to H&S procedures are paramount.

Booker is a large national Cash and Carry network supplying frozen, chilled and ambient food. As Transport Section Manager I ensured the fulfilment of the schedule of deliveries to stores and collections from third party suppliers. I was responsible for up to 100 drivers and office staff. Working closely with the warehouse team to ensure timely despatch, I allocated work with customer satisfaction in mind while adhering to driver tacho regulations and the Working Time Directive. Haydock is a very busy national hub and a lot of dynamic planning was needed to adapt to unforeseen events. I developed a good rapport with my team as well as store managers, warehouse team, Supply Chain and third party suppliers. I used Microlise Tracking system which provides real time information and aids the analysis of completed work and compilation of KPIs. While working at Booker there was a marked increase in volume and workforce. I worked closely with new drivers and our Driver Trainers to integrate them into the team

Fulfilling several contracts, particularly Ineos, I was responsible for allocating work to drivers. This involved taking into account – The product/ site specific training of drivers, the availability of product specific or general tankers and the price of each job. All within Tacho regulations and WTD. I would subcontract some work out to maximise revenue.
