Greg Fundis is a rising star among fellow musicians, live music fans and music critics alike. Having found a unique, creative voice through the drums, Greg Fundis brings energy, positivity and groove to every performance in genres that span the spectrum from jazz to jamband, world music, hip-hop and EDM. Currently touring with world-renowned tribute group Led Zeppelin 2 as well as virtuoso guitarist Fareed Haque, he has shared the stage throughout the world with other notable artists such as George Benson, Tony Monaco, Joey DeFrancesco, Paquito D'Rivera, Roy Hargrove, Zap Mama, Louis Bellson, comedian Rich Little, Joe Lovano, Bob Brookmeyer, Maurice Brown and Tom Harrell. Greg was recognized in Downbeat Magazine as a notable jazz alumnus holding a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from DePaul University in Chicago and a Bachelors from Millikin University. While at Millikin, Fundis became an internationally published percussion composer at the age of 19 with his book of compositions, "Contemporary Audition Solos for Percussion"(Studio 4 Music/MostlyMarimba). His teachers and mentors have included Brian Justison, Kim Klickna, Joel Spencer, Steve Smith, Louis Bellson, Jim Chapin, Michael Taylor & John Yost.In addition to relentless performing, Fundis is a highly sought-after music educator, ensemble director and clinician in the Chicago area where he has held positions at Roosevelt and DePaul universities and currently teaches percussion at Whitney Young High School and coordinates world percussion activities for over 3,000 area youth with JCC of Chicago.Greg Fundis plays Ludwig Drums, Paiste cymbals, Remo heads, Roland, Novation and Apple electronics and is a proud endorser of Vic Firth drumsticks and Humes and Berg Cases
