My partner and I decided to form Deca Construction Supply, Inc. The company provides pipe and fittings for water, drainage and sewage. We were fortunate enough to obtain several major contracts our first two years. We were retained by Skanska Civil to provide over 2 million linear feet of high-density polyethylene perforated pipe for the new Giants/Jets Stadium at the Meadowlands, a former state-wide garbage dump in Rutherford, New Jersey. We also obtained a fairly large contract to supply a half million linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe for the new World Trade Center and World Trade Center Museum in NYC. Also, we have won a myriad of other smaller jobs, such as the PATH Station Rehabilitation and several environmentally erosion control jobs, etc. In addition, we provide pipe and supplies for multiple municipal agencies in NYC including the Fire, Police, Parks Department, etc.

After leaving Allied Signal to embark upon an entrepreneurial career, I co-founded AF AM Kitting, Inc. With my partner, we manufactured and produced 5000 dozen pocket t-shirts for Philip Morris USA over a five year period, achieving $5.0 million in sales our final year.We also manufactured garments, including fleece and other forms of premium and private label apparel for other companies such as Harley Davidson and Target Stores. On the leisure wear side, we manufactured woven shirts for Macy's and JC Penney.We also obtained from Philip Morris, USA a two year $200,000 grant. Philip Morris funded a proposal we made on helping minority high school students to improve their standardized test-taking ability and , ultimatly, scores... With the assistance of the Life Skills program at the University of Virginia and the American College Testing Service (ACT) out of Dubuque, Iowa, we proposed and obtained funding for a program that combined weekly practice with the students and their parents on taking standardized tests, Their incentive to participate in the program was weekly flight instruction conducted by the historically renown Tuskegee Airmen Do-Do Chapter, of which my father is a member, out of Meigs Field in Chicago, Illinois . -

As Director of Corporate Audit, led seven-person team comprised of financial analysts and audit staff from Price Waterhouse and Arthur Anderson. The purpose of the team was to evaluate the acquisition by Allied Signal of the Bendix-Mintex aerospace braking plant in Sydney, Melbourne and Ballarat Australia. I directed the staff to conduct a revenue and expense cycle audit program developed on site. Acquisition was successfully implemented after a two-year period. Before departure for Australia, trained internal audit staff on TQM, fishbone and other flowcharting procedures which were eventually used on a corporate wide basis as a guiding template for all corporate audits in strict compliance with ISO 9000 procedures.

Led corporate internal audit staff in implementing total quality corporate wide initiative in compliance with ISO 9000 guidelines. This was accomplished across all product and staff functions in adopting Deming "zero defect" approach using flow chart analytics and continuous quality control techniques, principally with 3 sigma analysis and statistical control charts. Was principally involved with gathering of data to close down Huntington, West Virginia ink, fiber and surfactant plant due to management mistakes and obsolete production processes and procedures.

As Assistant Vice President in the Financial Planning and Analysis department, (FP&A) supervised six analysts responsible for monthly variance analysis of expense and revenues to annual plan. We also provided product support to line management for new product introduction, capital investments and other forms of project pricing and analysis. As VP Treasury, designed, implemented and reported on use of monthly derivatives, such as futures, options swaps, and IRCAS to hedge off balance sheet risk in the bankcard portfolio. The hedging strategy was in strict compliance with FSAB regulations. This regulation mandated use of a regression model to substantiate the correlation of point 7 between the cash versus the derivative instrument. Our goal was to hedge the gap between the yield on the cardmember receivable and the payment on the floating rate liability. This was used to manage the interest rate risk in the bankcard portfolio.
