The CTV television program, W5, described Greg Gormick as a Toronto consultant “with a client list that reads like a Who’s Who of Canadian transportation.”The basis of Gormick’s expertise is a solid grounding in real-world operations, planning and policy, gained from those veterans of the rail and transit industries who have tutored him throughout his career. His affiliation with these professionals results from frequent and lengthy assignments with such industry leaders as CP, CN, VIA Rail Canada, GM Diesel, Bombardier, Skoda and Siemens.As a reporter/commentator, Gormick has informed the public and the media of transportation initiatives and opportunities, particularly through his work for the Toronto Star and the CBC. For 21 years, he was the Canadian contributing editor of the trade magazine, Railway Age, and wrote their Passenger Rail Planner’s Guide, a comprehensive annual review of North American rail passenger and transit systems.In the public sector, Gormick has served in several notable positions as an analyst and policy advisor. His clients have included Toronto Mayor Art Eggleton, Toronto City Council, various Ontario and municipal agencies, the Coalition of Corridor Mayors and Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro, for whom he created the concept plan for the re-establishment of the Toronto-Peterborough rail passenger service. For MPs Bruce Hyer and Phil Toone, Gormick produced A Wedding Band of Confederation: Restoring Rail Passenger Service to Ontario's North Shore and Out of Steam: The Urgent Need to Modernize VIA Rail Canada, respecitvely.As well, Gormick is the author of Wheels of Progress: Toronto Moves by Rail.Gormick is currently crafting The Northern Ontario Lynx Rail Passenger System Plan for All Aboard Northern Ontario and various municipal agencies. It draws on concepts he first employed in his 2018 Oxford County report, Southwest Lynx: Integrated High-Performance Passenger Transportation for Southwestern Ontario.
