Part of the Michigan DEQ Radiological Emergency Preparedness Unit which plans for Palisades Nuclear Plant, D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant, and Enrico Fermi 2 Nuclear Generating Station; radiological transportation emergencies; other radiological emergency events. State site specialist for Palisades. Exercise and response preparedness includes calibration and testing of response equipment, training responders, updating plans and procedures, coordinating with local offsite response organizations, and coordinating with the Michigan Dose Assessment Group. Participate and train all levels of emergency response to radiological incidents. DOE-certified MERRTT instructor.Coordinate on a national level with other state agencies, FEMA, and other federal agencies to develop adequate planning mechanisms. Participated in the development and trial course of Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Program and Planning at the Emergency Management Institute. Lead reviewer and liaison for comments from the MDEQ REP Unit for various documents including EPA 400 Draft Interim PAG Manual, NUREG-0654/FEMA-REP-1, NRC decommissioning rulemaking, and others.Governor-appointed primary representative to the Council of State Governments (CSG) Midwest Radiological Transportation Committee. Member of the 180(c) Ad-hoc working group. Worked with state Tribal organizations to plan for outreach and training for transportation of spent nuclear fuel and high level radiological waste through the state. Serve on National Transportation Stakeholders Forum (NTSF) Transportation Emergency Preparedness Program (TEPP) Working Group.

Coordinated the Louisiana radiological emergency planning & response, including exercise development, planning & submittals for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, River Bend Station, and Waterford-3 Steam Electric Station. Provided planning and training for medical, monitoring & decontamination, and reception center drills. Planned & executed a successful FEMA evaluated Ingestion Pathway Exercise at River Bend Station. State planning team lead for 2011 Waterford 3 and 2012 River Bend Station exercises. Conduct and maintain training materials for state and local governments for response to low and high level radiological transportation accidents. Maintain operability of radiological survey equipment and dosimetry. Trained offsite radiological emergency responders, both state & local, in the basics of radiation, exposure control, instrumentation and equipment. Planned and conducted Louisiana’s first WIPPTREX exercise in association with the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). Continue to maintain training for responders along the shipping corridor as a Modular Emergency Response Transportation Training (MERRTT) instructor.
