About Greg Hadfield

I am a certified physician assistant licensed to practice in California. Currently, I am working as a full-time dermatology PA at Eye Associates in Clear Lake and Sebastopol. I am still part-time at Sutter Lakeside ER as a PA. Previously l was full-time for 18 months at Lake County Tribal Health Consortium initially in a contracted dermatology role which became full-time. I have previous part-time employment as a Sutter Lakeside hospitalist, and at Sutter Lakeside Family Medicine Clinic. Immediately prior to this I spent three-years as a consultant to the U.S. military and allied nations in concerns relating to combat trauma management for special operations and an abbreviated course for combat medics. In the past I have practiced as a PA in addiction medicine, primary care, dermatology, emergency medicine, and overseas combat operational medicine. My background in the U.S. military is extensive, with 17+ years of service as both a tactical and medical military member, all in the special operations career fields. I have worked with these communities throughout my civilian careers, and expect to continue into the foreseeable future. With all of my in the operational medicine time in the field- either as a medical officer, consultant, administrator, or an operator, I saw over 5,000 patients for the 2020-2021 fiscal year at Tribal Health, with the closest provider being 3,000. I am not a genius, yet set a high bar for my performance. Even through COVID, I have not had to take a sick day in over 10-years. I believe my background indicates my ability assimilate new data at high rates, and I will continue to learn as much as teach and provide in any PA profession, with dermatology being my most extensive knowledge base with over 15-years of experience. Specialties: Emergency, trauma, dermatological specialties, primary care medicine, personnel administration and hostile fire zone medicine and protection.

Practicing medicine here 5-days a week, 10 hours a day in dermatology most every Friday. The emphasis is on my prior specialty, and those who are already patients in primary care with Tribal Health will be first in-line and the referral will be easy-peasy. Change all of that as of COVID-19, and Tribal Health needed a provider that could see same-day appointments and walk-ins, and tapped into my 10+years at the Sutter Lakeside Emergency Department provider role. The consortium and I agreed that I would continue as their dermatology expert, and take a 5-day a week position seeing everything that needed to be seen. The idea is that patients with other primary care providers will be referred to the system (new idea for Tribal Health) and see me, inititially. Ive built a small panel of regular patients, but most are dermatology-related. I also have a group of internal medicine patients that I see, with dermatological concerns as a co-morbidity. I have a very loyal following from my previous dermatological practice. The clinic cannot currently take Medicare/private insurance unless you were "grandfathered" as a previous patient with those insurances.and I are keeping a list of those not seen at Tribal Health before as patients, so when the new campus opens in Clearlake, we will probably accept those patients again.. Fear not, I'm working as hard at this insurance "thing"as I'm working at taking care of you! This clinic is really becoming the go-to for Lake County with super primary care and pediatrics, on-site pain management, orthopedics, physical therapy, dental, psychiatric coverage, chiropractic, and acupuncturist in a clean, well-managed, facility that I'm proud to be in serving the public in-need! I'm not going to mention names, but the specialty roster is "Lake County Rock Star".
  • Chico Dermatology
    Clinical Dermatology Physician Assistant
    Chico Dermatology Jan 2020 - Apr 2020
I was providing specialized services to a long-time mentor, colleague, and friend O.Jay On at Chico Dermatology until we had to part ways due to changing circumstances and the COVID-19 pandemic. We teamed up to allow him to provide full-time aesthetics while I provided full-time clinical dermatology, two specialties under one roof! It is a privilege to bring my clinical skills to the man who taught me rudimentary dermatology 20-years ago at Stanford School of Medicine. I am so glad that I can take on the separate role that he needs in this practice, and do it to my capacity in a wonderful office and environment.
  • Lake Dermatology Associates Inc.
    Dermatology Physican Assistant
Lake Dermatology Associates Inc. May 2009 - Oct 2019
I performed the duties of a very competent dermatology PA, having a supervising physician when the case is more complex than my 19-years of experience as a PA-C mandates. I continue to treat patients with 7-day coverage overwatched by my supervising MD/DO on-site, in electronic communication as mandated and soon to be modified CALIFORNIA State Bill 697 enacted 1 Jan, 2019 ( my date format is due to 19+ years of military Special Ops; hard to break old habits that work so well, like military time). I insure competent, competent, and beyond "normal business hours" beyond the call of norms, and to at least the "Standard of Care" which under three board certified dermatologists, have further honed my performance, A notable point is my second supervising dermatologist required that we discussed prior to the visit every collaborating past medical history and examining EVERY patient together, and we shared an office to discuss EVERY case. This is annotated in charts from the period in 2009-2010 . For 9+ years I have always taken "call" for my provider's off-days and sick-coverage, and when out of electronic range, I solely requesting and attaining compliment remote coverage by 2- qualified dermatologists. During the 2018 fires that closed many of the towns we support and I traveled through 70+ mile (each way) to remove overdue sutures from a patient's ear, with borrowed dermatological tools and bandages from a very close colleague, with documented photos transmitted to both the performing surgeon and my supervising dermatologist (Dr. Furniss), with no other minor complications that were ratified without sequelae in my clinic. The time involved, the transportation, and the gratuitous provision of equipment by the Moh's college from the surgeon's satellite office made the post-op a success. I love my job and can't think of a better way to make a living! Last thing- I took one day off for sick-leave in 10+ years of duty to this clinic- Rangers Lead the Way.

West Coast Course Director- Live Tissue Combat Trauma Management Instruction/ Physician Assistant
Deployment Medicine International Aug 2006 - May 2009
    • Duties included the administration of all courses for DMI in California. Classes were comprised of up to 200 U.S. and allied special operations personnel that are both medical and combat-oriented. Specific duties included supervision, course development, senior administration, and oversight of instruction and practical application of course material in both the classroom and the field training exercises with live tissue. Course content included the employment of tourniquets, hemostatic agents and surgical airways as well as advanced training in prolonged care and casualty evacuation techniques. All skills were trained in didactic and live tissue models (porcine) using clinical and combat scenarios, with actual wounding by firearms and explosives taking precedence in the training environment, in order to achieve the utmost in realism.
