Lead the team responsible for rate reviews, pricing strategy, planning, testing, and general actuarial support for our Small Business, Middle Market, and Agribusiness segments.

The Small Business Actuarial Leader is responsible for leading the actuarial function and team for Westfield's Small Business segment. This includes:- Development and execution of pricing strategy- Rate reviews for all Small Business products, including state filing support- Rolling out updated rating plans and predictive models across our operating footprint- Support for planning and forecasting activities- Other actuarial support as required for the segmentThis role reports directly to Westfield's President of Small Business

• Lead actuarial team in developing and implementing a full suite of modernized commercial lines rating plans and complementary underwriting pricing models• Create and promote a sustainable pricing strategy that supports growth and profitability goals, backed by an ecosystem of agile technology and robust data / reporting• Collaborate with business partners to ensure that actuarial solutions are aligned with broader program goals• As a member of the program leadership team, help guide strategic direction while managing day-to-day priorities• Work closely with multiple project teams to ensure that our approach to implementing rates and models balances short-term deliverables with long-term flexibility and sustainability

• Created research unit; developed and executed plan to introduce actuarial modeling capacity to Westfield• Strategic partner with business units and other actuarial units to drive effective use of predictive models throughout the organization• Hire, manage and train staff of research actuaries• Develop and maintain portfolio of predictive models in support of multiple business units, including: o Commercial Lines Predictive Underwriting (Commercial Package, BOP, Workers Comp, and Farmowners) o Multiple significant Personal Lines projects, including complete redesign of Homeowners rating plan and redefinition of Home and Auto territories o Collaboration with other business units to develop a Workers’ Compensation claim severity model• Manage actuarial component of all major phases of modeling projects, from establishing business objectives through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance

Lead the Personal Lines actuarial team, including rate reviews and filing support, rate level indications, competitive analysis, and enhancements to rating plans for homeowners and personal auto (preferred, standard, and non-standard.)
