Greyhound Bus Lines/Amalgamated Transit Union National Local 1700
From May 1974, until retirement, August 1, 2003 I was employed at Greyhound lines, Inc as a motor coach operator, handling passenger's customer service issues and was head instructor of Greyhounds driver training program. During the years from 1996 through 2004 I served as an elected national union officer. At Greyhound I have been trained in and conducted many programs in safe driving standards, and handling customer service issues. As a long-term driver for Greyhound I have successfully handled many customer service problems helping people and at times handling disorderly customers. I was elected to serve as a regional union vice president and served two terms from January 01, 1996 through December 31, 2001. I served as National Union President from January 01, 2002 to January 31, 2005, representing all Greyhound drivers, mechanics and terminal employees. Also supervising 6 regional Vice Presidents and the National Secretary Treasurer. I served as a national trustee on Greyhounds Pension and H&W Trusts. I Negotiated many contracts and helped develop a constructive interest based negotiating environment. As a national union leader I was instrumental in bring the concept of interest based bargaining to Greyhound, fostering an excellent labor/management environment. I have been involved in and was an advocate in many arbitrations.From 2008 to the present I have been employed as a part time motor coach operator with Amador Stage Lines in Reno Nevada. During the Spring and Summer of 2010 I was a driver/guide for Holland America Cruise Lines in Alaska. I narrated and drove 45-foot J model MCI coaches on the Gold Rush Tour from Fairbanks to Skagway Alaska via Eagle Alaska, Dawson City & White Horse in the Yukon Territory Canada.
