The awards recognize people and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the LGBTQ community. In 2019 he was named "Blogger We Love" by Metro Source Magazine and in 2012 earned one of Power Up Films' Amazing Men in Showbiz Awards. He was also honored in 2008 by the Los Angeles City Council for his coverage of LGBT issues at the Los Angeles Daily News and the pioneering blog Out in Hollywood which he created for the newspaper.Greg was Writer-Editor for the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Marketing & Communications department from 2017-2022. Before that, he was US correspondent based in Los Angeles for London-based worldwide LGBTQ+ news site Gay Star News (gaystarnews.com) from 2011-17.He began his daily newspaper career as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times from 1992 - 2000 working for Metro and later Business. He transitioned to entertainment reporting in 2000, first working at The Hollywood Reporter then becoming entertainment industry reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News.While at the Daily News In 2006, Greg launched Out in Hollywood, an LGBT-themed entertainment blog that was among the first of its kind for any major daily newspaper in the US. The next year, Greg was named Page 2 columnist and focused on celebrity driven stories and covering such events as the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys, and Grammys.Greg left the Daily News in early 2009 and founded Greg In Hollywood.He has juggled a robust freelance career with staff jobs for the past decade writing more than 50 celebrity cover stories for Orange Coast Magazine, dozens of stories for The Advocate including several cover features and has been a contributing writer to Variety, Yes! Magazine, xFinity.com, Credit Karma, Los Angeles Business Journal, and Frontiers.
