I am a software engineer. I enjoy designing, and firmly believe that only through design can one achieve quality in software.I am proficient at requirements derivation, design and coding. I use UML as my representation language of choice for functional requirements and design. I often extend my requirements through the use of mathematical constructs as required; as well I often extend my UML-rendered designs with other constructs such as Petri-nets (instead of activity diagrams), especially when I am designing competing or co-operative software. I have also simulated complex software and protocol interactions with the use of Petri-net derivatives (this also had the unanticipated effect of exposing the minimal data requirements for decision making in protocol interaction).I have had exposure to many telecom protocols for both the management of and transmission of telecom data. Various MMLs, TL-1 and SNMP are examples of the former; PDH, SDH and SONET are examples of the latter. I have also been exposed to SIP and TR/87.I have led teams of up to seven developers through the design and implementation of software projects. As a team leader my managers often leave me to manage the project and various interactions with customers, product and project management, architects and testing departments. My schedules are well conceived and accurate - I have a history of delivering software within days of stated dates.My goal is to obtain a software design position where I am constantly challenged.Specialties: Requirements derivation, software engineering, UML, modeling (information, data, class, with an interest in performance).
