This position is proactive in identifying and mitigating multiple risk events over the life of the project. While acknowledging internal politics and every participant's agenda, this position advocates the success of the project as the focus. Failure points can include an incomplete BRD, unrealistic budget/resourcing plan, identifying under-performing team members, inefficient data model design, wrong methodology, political fracture, or an unmanageable scope. The Advocate can be part of the initial design/delivery team, or on as need basis for projects that have gone completely out of scope or suffer from never ending delivery extensions. Approximately 50% of my projects since my Siebel days have involved remediation of other firm's under performing deliverables. All projects start off with the best intentions but sometimes a lot of little issues can evolve into a failure if not caught in time and an impartial advocate can make the difference.Over 20 years of delivering DW and BI projects has proven time and again that it's not always the name or size of the firm that matters in your success, but the quality of the people on your project.
