Correctional Officer
Supervising maximum security offenders with very strict guidelines, rules, and regulations in alertness, precise logging, and most important of all, the safety and security of both offenders, as well as staff was #1 top priority. I resigned on my own recognizance gracefully by putting in my 2 week notice. The reason I decided to that it’s time to make a career change after 12 years of service was strictly due to the emotional exhaustion it has taking a toll on not only myself, but many other staff as well. Also, causing health complications for many staff as well, and the biggest factor, the severity of danger due to the extreme lack of staff. Staff assaults were beginning on a weekly basis from being sent to the hospital to getting life lined by helicopter to a hospital out of town. That was the deciding factor that i wasn’t willing to take take any of those chances anymore. My health and safety comes 1st. Period. I decided it was time to move on to another career that I have 19 years of experience rather than risking my life everyday going to work wondering if I was going to come home that night.
