In January 2023, I graduated from Final Pixel Academy, an Authorized Unreal Training Center, as a Technical Artist. Prior to that, I taught individual and group courses in filmmaking from 2011 to 2020 while I was living in Hawaii. The main courses included cinematography, editing, and on-location audio. During my tenure, I wrote a series of books related to these subjects. Some of the more popular titles were The Art of the Cut, Shot Psychology, and a Quick Start Guide to the Sony FS-7. Since July 2023, I have been authorized as an Unreal Instructor and was just reauthorized from 2024 to 2026 at the gold level. I also have a bachelor's degree in psychology and two master's degrees from the California State University system.For the last four years, I have been focused on Unreal Engine and using it for animation, games and short film projects.To date, I have written three books on Unreal Engine and one on the Verse programming language. The first book is a supplemental resource for the Foundations Course done by the Rochester Institute of Technology; the second is a step-by-step guide for making a basic game in Unreal Engine, and the third, published in July 2023, is on making a multiple-choice test. The most recent book, Verse Code Examples, was just published in April 2024. Over the last four years, I have produced over 400 video tutorials related to Unreal Engine and UEFN as part of a continuing collaboration with partners in Hawaii. As a result of my published tutorials, I have a designation as a Tutorial Professor on the Unreal Forum. Currently, I am a cofounder of the Game Engine Academy, a course developer and instructor for the Academy for Cinematic Art and Animation (ACAA), and I will be teaching a short-term class on Unreal Engine at the Meridian Technology Center in Fall 2024. In August 2024, I released the first online course for the ACAA, a 7-hour master class on menu creation in Unreal Engine.
