Retired Sept 22 but still consulting - MedicoLegal.After graduating I spent 6m in St Gallen Switzerland learning advanced knee surgery from Prof Hardi Weber & 12m in Toronto for a career defining fellowship with Prof Robert Jackson (‘Father of Arthroscopy').Then visits to big US clinics/famous surgeons & back to Oz to do my thing!As founder of SPORTSMED.SA I’m proud of playing an integral part in the formation of the largest sports medicine & surgery complex in Australia & the world, employing 300 people. I was strongly supported at that time by my colleague Roger Paterson.My role in instrument (electrosurgery) & prosthesis (2 separate partial knee replacement teams) design & technology (working with BrainLab in Munich to develop Computer Assisted Surgery) for modern knee surgery; has also been rewarding & has enabled me to work closely with teams of surgeons & industry people globally. I particularly enjoy working with skilled people to advance knowledge & technology in knee surgery.Teaching I enjoy, publishing over 40 scientific knee surgery articles & giving invited lectures in 27 countries.I’m proud to be in the top few knee replacement surgeon in Australia (based on numbers) & have the lowest infection rate (National Joint Registry data).I am interested in building design & been in charge of 5 construction projects at Sportsmed. I enjoy achieving functional, efficient practitioner & patient movement in the design.I have enjoyed the business side of my career & have an AICD Fellowship & done the course "Mastering the Boardroom" & been on several Boards.Throughout this wonderful journey I thank my wife Amanda & children Raphael, Hugo, Angus, Henry & Lili. I also thank Anne (mother of my 4 boys) who has always supported & encouraged me.It is a pleasure to travel through life surrounded by loving family & friends & equally committed staff.
