Networks deployed supported data, voice, and location services. The largest wireless project to date involved over 1,500 access points and 32 wireless controllers.
Contract Network Engineer
Part of a group of engineers involved in upgrading approximately 15,000 WAN circuits on the United States Post Office's network, the third largest private network in the world. Work performed included "logical" upgrades of fractional T-1 circuits to full T-1's by reconfiguring existing routers. Physical upgrades involved migrating the sites from a satellite, DSL, or fractional T-1 circuit to a full T-1 circuit. These types of upgrades involved the replacement of the sites' existing equipment, which was coordinated with on-site technicians. I was responsible for configuring the sites' Cisco router, troubleshooting any circuit issues (before, during, and after the conversion), and minimizing downtime for the sites' during the cutover. Was also responsible for ensuring that accurate documentation of each cutover was inputted into the customer's database.

Managed all aspects of installing and maintaining hardware and software for six branch offices of Summit Insurance Agency. The hardware includes a Dell Server running Windows 2000 Server, Dell workstations running Windows XP/2000, and HP printers. Managed servers and workstations both on site and remotely. Maintained antivirus software as well as service packs and security updates on all machines.

Successfully troubleshot performance problems on existing Ethernet network. I became a full time employee at Marconi Commerce Systems as a mid-level Network Engineer. Unfortunately, due to a slowdown in sales and a global restructuring 8,000 positions were eliminated, including mine.

Provide LAN administration and desktop support for Windows 95/NT clients running in Microsoft and Novell networks for a variety of clients including: Oliver Rubber, Asheboro (NT Server, Desktop support, LAN Administration, installed Category 5 network cabling and managed projects upgrading copper wire networks to fiber optics); JA King, Greensboro (NT Enterprise Server, Exchange Server, NT Terminal Server running Citrix Metaframe) Marconi, Greensboro (Helpdesk, Desktop support, as well as limited network and NT SMS Server support); as well as other smaller clients using Novell and NT servers. Administrative duties include the creation and management of user accounts, security, backing up servers, monitoring the LAN's performance, as well as other daily activities. Was also responsible for setting up and configuring new servers (Dell, HP, Compaq) running both Microsoft and Novell operating systems.
