Install and tune various Cisco Wireless LAN Controller platforms (5520, 5508, 2504, vWLC) for data, voice, and location based deployments for various facilities including hospitals, manufacturing, schools, and office buildings. Responsibilities included configuring and installing switches, routers, and Cisco’s Wide Area Application Services (WAAS). Responsibilities include configuring and installing Cisco switches (3560, 3750, 3850, 4500, 6500 and Nexus series), routers (2851, 2901), wireless controllers (2504, 5508), and access control servers (ACS). Deployed and supported implementations of Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE). Installed and tuned various Cisco WLC platforms for data and voice deployments. Surveyed and installed Cisco’s CAPWAP (802.11 a/b/g/n) wireless networks for various facilities including manufacturing, schools, and office buildings. Networks deployed supported data and voice.

Part of a group of engineers working with large corporate clients upgrading sites located throughout the U.S and Canada. Responsibilities include configuring and installing switches (Cisco 3560, 3750, 4500), routers (2610, 2851, 3745, 3845), and wireless controllers. Involved in testing and deploying Cisco's Wide Area Application Services (WAAS). I was responsible for configuring the sites' router, switches, WAE, and wireless controller/access points. Installations included troubleshooting any circuit issues (before, during, and after the conversion), and minimizing downtime for the sites' during the cutover. Lead engineer on redesigning several school districts networks with regard to IP addressing and routing. Surveyed and installed Cisco's LWAPP and CAPWAP (802.11 a/b/g/n) wireless networks for various facilities including manufacturing, hospitals, schools, and office buildings. Networks deployed supported data, voice, and location services. The largest wireless project to date involved over 1,500 access points and 32 wireless controllers.

Part of a group of engineers involved in upgrading approximately 15,000 WAN circuits on the United States Post Office's network, the third largest private network in the world. Work performed included "logical" upgrades of fractional T-1 circuits to full T-1's by reconfiguring existing routers. Physical upgrades involved migrating the sites from a satellite, DSL, or fractional T-1 circuit to a full T-1 circuit. These types of upgrades involved the replacement of the sites' existing equipment, which was coordinated with on-site technicians. I was responsible for configuring the sites' Cisco router, troubleshooting any circuit issues (before, during, and after the conversion), and minimizing downtime for the sites' during the cutover. Was also responsible for ensuring that accurate documentation of each cutover was inputted into the customer's database.

Managed all aspects of installing and maintaining hardware and software for six branch offices of Summit Insurance Agency. The hardware includes a Dell Server running Windows 2000 Server, Dell workstations running Windows XP/2000, and HP printers. Managed servers and workstations both on site and remotely. Maintained antivirus software as well as service packs and security updates on all machines.

Provide LAN/WAN support for 2,000+ node voice/data network. Daily administration and troubleshooting of Marconi (formerly Fore Systems) ATM Switches, Nortel Baystack Ethernet Switches, SynOptics hubs, Cisco Routers, Red Creek VPN hardware, and a ROLM 9751 phone/voice mail system. Configured and deployed Red Creek Ravlin VPN hardware to remote sales offices. Involved in upgrading the internal Ethernet network to ATM using Marconi ATM Core and Edge devices. Successfully troubleshot performance problems on existing Ethernet network. I became a full time employee at Marconi Commerce Systems as a mid-level Network Engineer. Unfortunately, due to a slowdown in sales and a global restructuring 8,000 positions were eliminated, including mine.

Provide LAN administration and desktop support for Windows 95/NT clients running in Microsoft and Novell networks for a variety of clients including: Oliver Rubber, Asheboro (NT Server, Desktop support, LAN Administration, installed Category 5 network cabling and managed projects upgrading copper wire networks to fiber optics); JA King, Greensboro (NT Enterprise Server, Exchange Server, NT Terminal Server running Citrix Metaframe) Marconi, Greensboro (Helpdesk, Desktop support, as well as limited network and NT SMS Server support); as well as other smaller clients using Novell and NT servers. Administrative duties include the creation and management of user accounts, security, backing up servers, monitoring the LAN's performance, as well as other daily activities. Was also responsible for setting up and configuring new servers (Dell, HP, Compaq) running both Microsoft and Novell operating systems.

Provided desktop support for Windows 95/NT clients on a Windows NT/Novell network at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. I was also involved in hardware and software upgrades of workstations as well as the installation and configuration of Winterms (thin client running Citrix Metaframe). Software configurations included Office 97, GroupWise, Netscape, and mainframe connections. Provided limited support for Novell 3.12 and 4.11 servers.
