Director of Workforce DevelopmentLeading a division responsible for promoting economic opportunity for individuals and economic development for St. Louis County by ensuring a well-skilled workforce that can meet the demands of today's economy.  Serve as Director for the St. Louis County Workforce Board, one of the largest workforce boards in the state of Missouri – stewarding the Board’s vision and strategy and providing direction to staff implementing strategy.  Responsible for leading a division that includes over 50 workforce specialists and case managers executing key projects and initiatives that improve our regional workforce. Responsible for overseeing a nearly $4 million dollar budget in federal grant funding allocated by the state of Missouri from the Department of Labor and via the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local policies applicable to the activities of the Board. Regularly write and deliver memos, reports, and presentations on labor market trends and workforce development strategies for local stakeholder groups in the St. Louis region.

Following success as Project Manager and Director of Project Planning & Leadership, took up the challenge of delivering strategic planning and direction of education strategy of the St Louis Regional Chamber. Defined and steered implementation of regional initiatives aimed at positioning St. Louis as a Top 10 region for educational attainment by 2025. Key Roles and Responsibilities:►Defined and developed public policy agendas to support statewide advocacy around education and workforce, along with supporting various new workforce bills to get passed into law in Missouri in 2019, including the Missouri Fast Track program, designed to award $10M in scholarships to adult students.►Co-chaired task force exploring and developing strategies to drive increase in postsecondary rates for first generation, low-income students of color, leading to the publication of a report – Degrees with Less Debt – utilized by nonprofits and higher education institutions to help improve policy and practice.►Successfully secured support of 100+ leaders in business, higher education, and government, and steered development and implementation of the St. Louis Regional Education Commitment to increase postsecondary attainment ratings.►Led development and execution of collaborative projects aimed at strengthening partnerships with private sector and higher education partners, strengthening talent pipelines for high-growth, and high-demand occupations across the region.►Oversaw a project gathering employer data on workforce needs and produced a community report, Bridging the Talent Gap, providing actionable insights on existing and forecasted labor market to guiding partners in addressing talent needs.

Led establishment of a Project Planning & Leadership team to increase efficiency in the implementation and management of projects in alignment with the Chamber’s top strategic priorities in economic development, workforce, entrepreneurship, and inclusion.Key Roles and Responsibilities:►Applied expertise and knowledge to lead the design and development of dynamic curriculum, tools, and processes for the organization’s project leadership approach and methodology.►Provided sound leadership overseeing, mentoring and supporting the development of 2 full-time project managers with responsibility for managing key events and projects.

Held responsibility for the planning, execution, and management of various projects including serving as lead project manager for the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s business recovery efforts in the Ferguson area following the civil unrest of 2014. Steered strategic planning and project implementation supporting 60-70 small businesses in remaining solvent.Key Roles and Responsibilities:►Successfully prepared and submitted grant application to American Chamber of Commerce to secure $40,000 grant to underwrite cost for organizing regional strategy for increasing postsecondary attainment.►Acted as content expert for the Ferguson Commission, who were responsible for identifying, and driving regional ‘calls to action’ that aimed at fostering increased racial equity and enhance economic prosperity across the region.►Skillfully defined and developed new products to enhance business processes, including a toolkit that helped to improve workplace practices and development of employees’ talent, along with a supplier diversity toolkit that identified best practices to ensure more inclusive supply chains for major companies.

Utilized data to drive development and enhancement of teaching standards, and content to optimize learning experience and individual student achievement.Key Roles and Responsibilities:►Designed and delivered innovative and engaging classes to grades 9-12 assisting students to achieve optimal academic performance – 80% of students scored proficient or advanced in the state exam for English.►Contributed as member of a committee of leaders responsible for securing AdvanceED accreditation for the school.►Successfully secured a $500K grant that led to the full integration of technology into teaching and learning, including enabling the training of teachers in the utilization of inquiry-based methods and technology.
