The Mayor"s Neighborhood Engagement Office is the City"s permanent mechanism for public participation in government decision-making. Our only focus is public participation. We explore ways to create opportunities for dialogue, information sharing, partnership, and action between city government and neighborhood residents and leaders. Our aim is to foster greater neighborhood partnership and communication with City departments and agencies to promote positive outcomes, ultimately helping to improve neighborhoods" quality of life.• Work closely with Mayor Landrieu and the administration to establish short-term and long-term goals and benchmarks for neighborhood development and partnerships• Implemented public participation processes City Agencies including Capital Projects, NORDC, and Public Works • Launched the City’s first-ever Civic Leadership Academy, an eight week leadership development program • Represent the City of New Orleans at public events including moderating and facilitating stakeholders and community meetings• Managed the Neighborhood Capacity Building Initiative (NCBI) distributing over $100,000 in mini-grants to neighborhood organization in partnership with Neighbor Works America• Advised City Council District B neighborhood organizations on City programs and assisted with resolving complex neighborhood complaints • Coordination of the annual l Neighborhood Summit-a one day capacity building workshop for residents engaging over 500 resident each year; leveraging sponsorship with Neighbor Works America to execute event • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with schools, boards, commissions and other organizations that enhanced quality of life for neighborhood• Serve as lead for special projects including development of Mayor’s Summer Job Initiative and Citywide Litter Abatement Campaign• Support the Director in hiring, training and performance review and evaluation of staff members
