This business is a key strategy for the $3.4 billion Cardiac Rhythm Management division. • Member of a five-person team that developed the strategy and business model for the new venture. Met a very aggressive schedule to launch the business, achieving financial objectives and patient enrollment goals (5,000 patients online by Y/E 2003), and beating the competition to market.• Created and led the Network Operations function, building sophisticated development, testing and production environments, supporting 70 developers. The production site achieved its design objectives for high-security and high-availability. • Created and led the Business Operations function, responsible for billing/invoicing, distribution of the remote monitors and customer telephone support (clinic and patient). Developed the unique processes and systems required to support this new business. • Created and led the Manufacturing Operations function, building the production capability and quality processes at an outsourced manufacturing partner. – Ran a design competition that cut the cost on the monitor an anticipated 72%. – Directed onsite audit of Malaysian offshore facility to prepare for manufacturing start-up with new vendor. • A key leader in the product development effort required to build and launch the product. Regulated by the FDA, this product required robust development and quality processes to build and support it.• Established the network infrastructure and architecture both at Medtronic and at an outsourced web hosting provider. • Played a key role in business development activities, including due diligence and strategy development associated with the acquisition of a company in 2001 that put Medtronic in a leadership position in a new marketplace. -
