Invited to lead Xaar Plc’s first step into the market for the provision of a full digital printing solution to an end customer as either a standalone piece of equipment or as an upgrade to full digital engines. Accountable for developing the full end to end operational processes in conjunction with Xaar’s selected OEM manufacturer with a view to then transitioning the ‘end to end’ operation into Xaar once the volumes had scaled. Remit involved managing the relationship with the OEM manufacturer in terms of product cost & development whilst also taking responsibility for the development and execution of the service strategy.

Responsible for Factory Operations including all aspects of production, purchasing, engineering, Health and Safety, continuous improvement, conformance to ISO 9002 and 14001 with a primary emphasis on managing the capacity growth of the factory.

Promoted to the Company’s Executive Team with full P&L responsibility and day to day operational accountability for Xaar’s two manufacturing facilities in the UK and Sweden supplying the company’s product portfolio to a worldwide OEM customer base. Responsible for all factory based operations (Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, etc) together with leadership of two manufacturing management teams of circa 8 department heads and senior managers and direction of a wider workforce of circa 400 staff. Primarily focused on delivering cost reductions through make, buy or collaborative means, and consolidating the two sites into a single cost effective cohesive manufacturing facility. Responsible for overseeing the capital expansion of the Swedish facility and the subsequent increase in XJ128 production as well as the introduction of the UPH (Agfa variant), Omni760 (Xaar variant) and Omni 380 into production.

Appointed to lead a UK-based prototype facility and develop a company-wide quality and environmental system encompassing the UK and Swedish facilities. Held strategic responsibility for manufacturing process development and deployment into new products and for developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships with unique material suppliers (eg, PZT from Japan, etc). Responsible for a budget of circa GBP £6M with six senior managers as direct reports and a wider team of approximately 100 people.

Leadership responsibility across a 7000 m2 multi-disciplined high precision manufacturing facility focused on the manufacture and supply of capital pre-press equipment (Image setter, CTP and scanner devices) to the Fujifilm parent company adhering to strict Group-wide quality standards. Full P&L accountability for an annual GBP £30M budget, together with a strong emphasis on the strategically developing the manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand from the Groups’ Fuji subsidiaries. Managed a team of 9 Senior Manager direct reports (Purchasing, Engineering. IT, Planning, Production, Quality, etc) with a leadership remit across a wider workforce of 160 employees. Appointed as a senior member of the new product development steering team, working with the R&D team and Japanese senior management team to implement a best practice development methodology incorporating group technologies and maximising the Group’s purchasing leverage
