Manager, Payroll Tax And Accounting
Primary roles and responsibilities:• Ensuring the Payroll Oracle HCM costing for new and existing payroll elements were properly set up and correctly mapped to the PeopleSoft general ledger to ensure financial statement reporting accuracy• Reviewing payroll general ledger related interfaces including payroll general ledger, payroll accrual, head count, FTE’s, and benefits for accuracy• Serving as a liaison between finance and payroll to solve or facilitate solutions to questions or issues that arise relating to payroll general ledger expenses and payroll tax• Reviewing daily and bi-weekly payroll tax payments, which ADP facilitates paying to the IRS• Reviewing payroll SOX controls for the payroll group within the Blackline Compliance Module• Being a liaison between the payroll group and external financial, internal, and IRS auditors providing requested information for payroll accounting related transactions and controls• Reviewing payroll tax IRS amendment submissions• Researching payroll tax changes and providing payroll tax compliance action plansKey accomplishments included:• Automating several bi-weekly and monthly payroll interface reasonableness reviews including the payroll GL, payroll accrual, headcount, FTE, and benefits interfaces utilizing an Access database to reduce the review times by 75% and 10 hours a month• Automating the payroll GL suspense process to reduce the time to identify the correct GL coding and reduce the overall $ amount of payroll expenses that fall into suspense• Reducing initial IRS state audit findings liability by over 70% through researching and providing additional support
