Originally a single brick and mortar location, it eventually grew to 5 locations in Tucson, AZ, Nogales, AZ, and Nogales, Mexico. The $199 Computer Stores was a dominant force online with sales on several platforms including Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Buy.com, Sears.com, and EBay. The $199 Computer Stores, on EBay, achieved the number one position for computer sales nationwide, even above national sellers of new equipment like Dell. The $199 Computer Stores LLC was one of only a handful of EBay "Diamond Power Sellers" in the world at that time. The $199 Computer Stores received approximately 70,000 unique user feedback ratings under its principal username 199computerstore with a formidable lifetime customer satisfaction rate of 99.7%. The $199 Computer Stores was selected by Microsoft to be one of the first Microsoft Authorized Refurbishers. Founded in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Central America, by Tim Steiniger, and Greg Marantz, Honducomp was a wholesale and retail supplier of Computers and Consumer Electronics. Honducomp grew to seven brick and mortar locations and eventually opened the first computer factory in the Country, which, employed over 150 people organization-wide. The opening of the factory in Tegucigalpa was heralded with a front page article in the largest newspaper in the country, La Tribuna. The opening was attended by the country's Finance Minister, as well as the Head of the U.S. Honduran Chamber of Commerce, among others. The mission being, "Una computadora para todos", Honducomp locally manufactured low cost, high quality, new, and refurbished computers, at a price point accessible to the masses. Honducomp additionally acheived an exclusive distributorship for Packard Bell Computers in Honduras and Central America.
