I love what I do. I was made to do it. I think it is important to have fun and not take yourself too seriously. My objectives? Be brilliant. Envision ideas that are both practical and inspirational at the same time and then make them happen. My current role doesn't allow it, but long term, I'd like to write books, maybe illustrate them, develop new games and other creative experiences, maybe cross media/genre/idiom and take things in a whole new direction. Art Direction, Set Design And ConstructionTake It From The Top Productions 1983 - 1988Wilmington, DelawareThis was more of an avocation for me, although it was certainly professional work. Over the course of about five years I worked as Art Director and Set Designer on a number of community theater productions in the area. I have listed Take It from the Top Productions as this was our own organization, but I also worked for other theater production companies including ATA. Some of the shows I did design work for included The Fantastiks (met my wife, a pianist, doing this show), Cabaret, Once Upon a Mattress, Dracula and Guys and Dolls.

Senior DesignerKennard'S Department Store 1980 - 1982One of the last independent 'old school' department stores from the 40's and 50's and my first job out of art school. They had an in-house art department and I was it. I was responsible for all the weekly retail ads which often included creating original fashion illustrations of featured clothing. Although I am an illustrator, fashion was not my strong suit. Instead I focused on raising consciousness of sale events and started a movement to revamp the store window displays and floor. This may have helped to stave off the inevitable for a time but the grand old department store days were doomed to come to an end. Kennard's closed its doors in '82 and I moved on to greener pastures.
