GovCon Fund II, LP & GovCon Fund, LP are lower middle-market private debt/equity funds focused in the government contracting market, specifically helping facilitate M&A transactions in the small business set-aside space. We focus on loaning money to the 23% of government contractors that utilize contracting assistance programs to win new business. The programs make it easier for the companies to win new business, but harder for them to sell due to limited understanding of the programs by brokers and buyers as well as limited liquidity in the space.The lack of liquidity combined with a lack of market makers allows a capital partner like us to set generous terms for our LPs, as well as take an equity position in every business that we transact with. Every business we invest in is a small business, and we focus on lending to four key groups - service disabled veterans (SDVOSBs), woman owned small businesses (WOSBs), socially and economically disadvantage businesses (8(a) program), and owners located in a HubZone (Contracting assistance programs | U.S. Small Business Administration (sba.gov)). Additionally, our value creation team has tremendous experience operating, growing and monetizing businesses in the four groups. By leveraging this experience, we are better able to grow the businesses and see better returns on the equity portion of the investment.
