I am a research scientist focused on developing technologies for monitoring molecular targets in living systems and for energy storage. I have advanced degrees in both science (Ph.D. Chemistry) and engineering (M.S. Mechanical Engineering). I have been developing cutting-edge technologies and educating the next generation of engineers and scientists for 17 years (post Ph.D.). Currently, I work in The Department of Chemistry at the North Carolina State University as a Research Professor. My current academic research is focused on creating sensors for real-time monitoring of neurotransmitter or hormone fluctuations in vivo (inside the body). I am applying these advances to neuroscience applications to gain insights into the brain. Previously, I have worked with start-up company developing and testing nanoscale materials for energy storage and at Pine Research Instrumentation creating a product line for apply electrochemistry to biological applications. Broad Skill Set: Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Spectroscopy, Thin Films, Microfabrication, Nanomaterials, Polymers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering experience and Biological Systems. Strong engineering and physical science professional with a PhD in Chemistry from Penn State University.
