Research and develop new structural adhesives to bond fiber-reinforced composite materials to dissimilar materials. Leverage rheology and fluid dynamics to develop strategies for dispensing liquid adhesives.

Functionalize graphene oxide to promote better adhesion and dispersability in epoxy and polyester resins. Study the fracture mechanics of the resultant composites with the overall goal of improving fracture toughness at low loadings of graphene oxide.

Fabricate three-dimensional layered composites that are composed of either one or two-dimensional components (e.g., graphene, carbon nanotubes, dichalogenides, etc.). Study the electrical and thermal properties of these materials for many diverse applications and to understand their transport properties at a fundamental level.

Fabricated and studied latex-based polymer composites filled with electrically conductive nanofillers (e.g., carbon nanotubes or carbon black). These aqueous-based composites were studied for their thermoelectric properties as different carbon nanotube stabilizers were used.

Worked on a melt impregnation R&D line creating either long fiber pellets or 3-6" tapes. Multiple different resin and fiber combinations were used and the materials were mechanically tested after compression molded into plaques.
