As a Marine insurance underwriter with Special Risk Insurance Managers I am drawing on a combined 30 years of experience in healthcare and insurance. Prior to underwriting, I worked in personal lines and marine insurance as a front line broker. I am passionate about the world of marine insurance, both commercial and pleasure craft focused. My goal is to find solutions to make things work, rather than throwing up roadblocks. Insurance is a second career for me; I spent close to 25 years in healthcare as a Registered Nurse. Working as a nurse took me to the far north of Canada, five American States, Uganda, Malawi, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. My highlight as a nurse was working for the Nobel Peace Prize winning organization Medécins Sans Frontieres/Doctors without Borders.My experience in healthcare, as a nurse, has developed assessment skills, and the ability to intuitively gather information and assess health risk. These skills have served me well as a broker; however, the assessment of risk is now a boat, home, or person seeking travel medical insurance.I believe that good customer service is based in knowing how to actively listen to your client, assess their needs and plan your approach - delivering genuine unscripted customer service.
