Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for comprehensive planning, scheduling, and operational support for the Master, overseeing vessel WHS activities including safety system audits, equipment testing, maintenance and tagging, routine work-area inspections, incident investigations and regular management system reviews, ensuring adherence to all relevant state, national, maritime, and international legislation.• Manage the upkeep, creation and amendments of all workplace safety documentation including, operational procedures, risk assessments, hazard register, confined space entry, crew inductions, VOC’s, maintenance logs and vessel emergency response drills. • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills when interacting with the crew, superiors, clients, and external authorities, providing clear and concise instructions to enhance the efficiency of operations. Manage all operational requirements, such as planned and non-planned maintenance routines, ballast and cargo tank inspections, stock control and ordering, including the tagging of the ship's lifting, rigging, anchor handling/towing equipment. • Conduct morning prestart and toolbox meetings by initiating safety interactions, topics and encouraging staff engagement to maintain a safe working environment. • Ensure the accuracy of all tasks within the vessel through the operation of various propulsion control and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems, sometimes in close quarters or while tethered to third-party assets • Formed an integral part of the Bridge Resource Management team for "high-risk" operations and coordinated deck operations for anchor handling, towing, and supply activities • Identify potential hazards, reinforced safety protocols, and promoted a safety-first culture, ensuring full adherence to HSEQ procedures, including JHA's, SOP's, dangerous goods legislation and hazard identification and reporting to maintain an LTI free working environment.
