Duties included:• Converting raw LIDAR and Raster data into Topologies, Polygons, Polylines and Geodatabases• Processing using ArcGIS 9.2 and ArcGIS 10, mostly using tools in the 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Cartography and Conversion extensions• Using a wide range of custom tools including VBA to process and clean data• Setting a variety of tolerances and algorithms to automate the cleaning process• Completing each map to a professional cartographic standard that can then be used when assessing suitable areas for development• Creating a manual on the features and tools used with accurate justification• Writing reports of the work completed including methodology and results

Negombo Water Supply and optimization Project: Training a team of Sri Lankans to accurately Survey and process results using a range of techniques whilst carrying out surveying duties associated with the project. Duties included:• Constructing tasks, guides and other material for the trainee surveyors (GIS/GPS)• Processing and related activities of collected data/Map creation using Trimble Business Center, ArcMap 9.3.1 and Autocad• Calibrating the GPS equipment to the Local Co-ordinate system• Extensive surveying/training the local surveying team to use hardware: Trimble R8 GNSS, Nikon NPL 362, Level and HPB450/GSM for real time kinetic corrections• Installation and modification of HPB450 radio
