As the Sales and Service Manager for the Fort Saskatchewan UFA Farm Store, I managed and worked along-side a staff of roughly 15 employees. My key accountabilities were to deliver on sales expectations, manage recruitment, schedule all associates, manage yard operations and handle all safety related duties. My position with UFA was eliminated due to a full corporate restructuring; I continue to maintain a positive relationship with this employer.

West End Home Depot

As an Assistant Store Manager for the Home Depot, I managed three department supervisors and roughly fifty hourly associates. I managed every sales department in the store, as well as installation services, deliveries, tool rentals and our contractor service desk. Primary duties of this position included inventory management, event execution, personnel management and handling customer escalations.I accomplished numerous performance milestones while working for the Home Depot as an Assistant Store Manager. In 2013, for example, my team achieved substantial positive growth in every area that I was responsible for. Year over year sales growth exceeded 20% in lumber, building materials and contractor services, all of which were multi-million dollar per year enterprises. This growth was achieved despite major challenges with attracting quality labor in Alberta’s strong economic environment.This was a very hands-on role, and I worked along-side my employees every day on the sales floor. I routinely assisted customers, participated in product ordering, and used lift equipment routinely.

As a Human Resources Manager for the Home Depot, I oversaw all aspects of human resources for roughly 200 associates; this was a generalist role. I was responsible for preparing and executing a seasonal hiring plan, managing associate performance management, and maintaining all associate personnel records. I served as a leadership mentor for all managers in the building and handled all matters related to WCB and benefits administration. Sensitive matters such as terminations and investigations were also part of my responsibilities. I excellent in this role, and chose to leave it in order to pursue further career progression with the Home Depot.

I started as a Recruiter for Metropolitan Credit Adjusters, and quickly advanced to overseeing all HR functions as the company Human Resources Manager. In this position, I managed all aspects of human resources for the Edmonton head office as well as the branch offices in Vancouver, Mississauga and Montreal. I managed a full time recruiter in Edmonton, and coordinated with Branch Managers to execute recruitment in the branch offices. During my time with Metropolitan, I created a full structure of corporate policies, an employee handbook, employment contracts, job descriptions, a performance review process, training manuals, and a myriad of other control processes. To control turnover, I implemented an employee recognition and rewards program and established partnerships with the City of Edmonton, YMCA, and several other organizations. I also implemented Employment Equity and served as the company Privacy Commissioner. I left this role to pursue an opportunity with a much larger organization that offered greater compensation and career potential.
