• Supervising a team of operators, to conduct evaluation projects on a wide range of iron ore products. • Managing the day to day operation within a two panel shift roster.• Conducting handovers and passing on information for project work to the opposite shift.• Ensuring the work was conducted safely by promoting a health and safety culture. Encouraging the team to participate in team safety meetings and promote the implementation of change of practice in accordance to Rio Tinto's health and safety framework.• Maintaining SEG assessments, facilitation of job hazard analysis for the team. • The short term planner’s role consisted of developing a rolling 12 week production plan.• Managing the mine, plant and port priorities to deliver the appropriate quality and quantity of product. • Helping to determine key development to ensure customer satisfaction.• I was responsible for developing a weekly rail plan in conjunction with the port, rail and remaining mine sites. • The position also assisted the grade controllers in a training and support function.• Maintaining solid relationships with the design and production engineers. • Data collection and reporting for port schedulers and mine operation managers, it was a requirement to attend level 2 & 3 meetings and distribute that information amongst the team. • As the Run Planner I was required to work to the weekly plan covering the areas of mine, plant and rail and covering the pit engineer’s absence over weekends.• Tasks included stockpile management with quality and quantity.• Scheduling of the mines resources to complete grade and waste targets in a safe manner.• Providing daily production plans for the production shift supervisors and pit controllers.• Ore block mark out, and in conjunction with mine geology analyse drill hole data to design Vulcan block outs.• Keeping areas of communication open to the mine and blast supervisors, Geology and Survey departments, Mine equipment maintenance, mine laboratory, pit engineer and short term planners.

• As a metallurgical technician my duties were to carry out the requests of the department metallurgists. • This included characterisation test work on iron ore samples from all over Rio Tintos deposits for routine data collection, various stages of conceptual and prefeasibility studies. • Test work included sizing and chemical analysis, preparation of customer and marketing samples, heavy media separation using an Erickson cone, running pilot scale plants to prepare winze, wide diameter core and run of mine samples, operation of crushers and pilot size screens, operation of Linde 3t forklifts and various light vehicles, conducting degradation test work using the departments tumbles drums and drop tower, determining Decrepitation index (DI) Reducibility decrepitation index (RDI) and Reducibility index (RI) SG determination including weight in water method and the use of pyknometers for SG determination for material <0.063mm, preparation of fines materials for heavy liquid SG determination. • While employed in this role I was elected safety rep and training and assessing officer.• It was a requirement of the role to work a continuous shift roster.
