Dr. Pirio has been a global leader in the use of communications for constructive social change. EC Associates focuses on an array of health advocacy, public relations, branding, media development, social and behavior change communications, and distance education issues with a strong emphasis in the areas of health, governance and conflict resolution issues. For instance, during the West African ebola outbreak, Dr. Pirio worked with the Ministries of Health in several countries to develop effective strategies to mobilize the population to adopt behaviors to prevent the introduction of Ebola and how to respond if Ebola cases emerged. Dr. Pirio has also developed communication strategies to counter the rise of violent extremism.
