Later, in the editor role, I pivoted towards supporting our commercial team by helping to pitch new business, while also leading high subject-matter expertise projects and training new staff - handing over line management to an emerging group of team leaders.Key achievements:● Transformed the editorial department from a high volume to a high quality model. ● Designed and rolled out a unique quality auditing system. This allowed us to measure the quality of written work and reward success.● Designed and rolled out Writer Development Plans to extend the skill-sets of our best writers.● Managed video production and created a system for coordinating design and video work with a US sister company.● Helped create new production systems for managing and recording our workflows within the Agile framework. I was the launch editor for Green Ideas magazine and ran it for three years, putting out 20 issues. In that time we grew its readership substantially, with over 5,000 subscribers in January 2016 - plus a fortnightly email newsletter sent to 12,800 people (average open rate 35%). Sadly the company decided to close it after three years due to insufficient revenue. I'm very proud of what we achieved with Green Ideas - it was a magazine with integrity, a unique voice, and a super-engaged readership.

As deputy chief sub-editor I was responsible for the quality and timely sub-editing of New Zealand's largest newspaper.
